There is a game in development. Some of you may have heard of it, most probably have not.
Xenonauts is a game that is heavily based off of the original X-Com games. It will have all of the same elements from turn-based ground combat to real time air combat to keeping the worlds nations happy/safe and funding you. If you have played any of the first three X-Com games then you will know exactly what to expect, if not then well......they are pretty cheap on STEAM.
An early ALPHA version of the ground combat viewer.
A look at the Geoscape.
A look at the base layout screen.
Loading up the troop transport.
Equipping the soldiers.
One of the ground vehicles at the base.
Equipping an interceptor.
It is important to remember this game is still in development and has no set release date yet but they are aiming for later this year. I personally hope they take all the time they need to make a great spiritual successor to the original three X-Com games.
You should check out their site for more info and while you are there you can pre-order the game to help out with development costs and get access to early client releases. Then you can play around and give them feedback and report any bugs to help them even more. They are very interactive with their community of followers and respond all the time in their forums.
Check it out: Xenonauts!
good developers should always stay in contact with the community.
ReplyDeletegame looks ... very cartoon-y
Is this like an indie game? Graphics look kinda iffy for this generation.
ReplyDeleteThe graphics seem very good! The style isn't too testosterone-like ... which sometimes in games is too used nowadays.
ReplyDeleteGood, between xcom and fallout, I can't really think of other games that still work that same style, I like it.
ReplyDeleteNice I like the look of this game.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a cool game^^
ReplyDeletetheres so much detail in this game. Looks like it's capable of occupying many hours
ReplyDeleteI like the way this game looks a lot.
ReplyDeletethese are screenshots from an alpha version and are not representative of the final product but even so I am more interested in the gameplay mechanics and replayability than the graphics
ReplyDeleteI think this is the first major release for these guys and I hope it takes off. if I can save up some cash I will certainly pre-order it :)
I have probably put more hours in the first 3 x-com games than all other games combined....well if you leave out mmo's ;)
this game will rock if you ask me!
ReplyDeleteis it a strategy game?
ReplyDeleteI thought this was a kind of manager game (like FM or something like that)
could be good
ReplyDeleteLooks dope bro~
ReplyDeleteThis is CASH!
ReplyDeleteCertainly has potential ... to outwit me completely.
ReplyDeletehaha definitely gonna check this out, nice one man~
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what X-Com is, I might check it out on Steam.
ReplyDeleteIt is strategy, management and more. I am not a very big fan of fps not because of the style but because I am not very good with my hands. Anyway I enjoy like Mass Effect and the new Fallout's because they are much much more than just a simple FPS. The RPG and relationship elements are great and of course these games allow you to pause combat to figure out how to proceed.
ReplyDeleteSo I think this game has some serious potential because it is not s simple manager or turn-based strategy but much more.
The site link is included as the last word of the post if you want to explore it further.
I am going to buy this at some point even if I can't save up enough to pre-order before it comes out.
Is that a farm in the first pic?????
ReplyDeleteInteresting game I'll check it out
ReplyDeleteSeems similar to C&C
ReplyDeleteLoved X-Com, can't wait to give this a try
ReplyDeletenever heard of this game, but ill have to give it a go
ReplyDeleteoh wow never heard of this game but ill think about buying it on steam

ReplyDeleteI liked all the photos in this post.
ReplyDeleteYea rooster that is a farm lol
ReplyDeletei really like to check this game out, looks great
ReplyDeleteOooh, think I've found my next game purchase! Thanks for pointing me to this game, its been a long time since I last played an X-com game!
ReplyDeleteYea if I can get my finances back in order I plan on buying this ASAP. They release new media regularly and the content looks better and better all the time. In fact they had a new update a few days ago.
